p.1 #1#1128 A Tattoo - Military Style
Most people do not realize that there is another definition, albeit military and lost, for a tattoo. I prefer this as opposed to "body art".
Military tattoo

A military tattoo is a performance of music or display of armed forces in general. The term comes from the early 17th-century Dutch phrase doe den tap toe ...

I was first introduced to this ceremony while honoring the Australian SAS soldiers I served with in Vietnam. It was "The Queens" birthday June of 1970 in Melbourne.

Arlington Natl. Cemetery had one yesterday evening for "invited" Vietnam War veterans,. I was lucky to be invited.

PLEASE remember that today is a "memorial". Not just another day off from work! Thank you!

I remember this invocation that was read at the Australian ceremony written by Sir William Gladstone:
Show me the manner in which a nation or a community cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical exactness the tender sympathies of its people, their respect for the laws of the land and their loyalty to high ideals.
Sir William E. Gladstone
