For the last couple of weeks I have been in the Midwest visiting my extended family, which gave me the opportunity to meet up with an old friend of mine named Drew who plays in a band called Gerhart. I know Drew because he and I used to live together in an artist collective in Los Angeles in 2019 and 2020. Eventually the pandemic caused us to both have to move back to our hometowns, mine near Portland Oregon, and his in Indiana near the Illinois border. We've kept in touch, and since I visit the Chicago area several times a year we decided to meet up and do a photo shoot for his band during my visit this week. He and I got to the location before the rest of the band arrived, so we scouted the area and I took a few individual shots of him. The wind came though at just the right moment to whip up his hair in the first shot and I was able to capture just the right moment. I have several more of the entire band, but I'll be waiting on their selections before I start editing them, so in the meantime I decided to edit these two which stood out to me.

Your lighting in the second couldn't be better. You make it look so easy

Thank you Gary. One thing I love about using natural light is that I don't have to craft the lighting myself. It honestly does make my job much easier.
