The lightning is amazing. The main light being reflected on the table makes a beautiful fall of and the back light from natural light complete it perfectly. I don’t think I could reproduce that even in a studio.
Love that pic!

I love happy accidents like that...got a kitchen table shot of my son drinking the milk out of his cereal bowl, and the white bowl acted as a small reflector to his face

Fantastic shot. I look at an image like this from the 35 f1.8S and wonder how anyone can say that it is a weak lens. Yes, it may not be as great as the 50 f1.8 or 85 f1.8 but it is a fantastic lens in its own right.

Wonderful. This has the look of a properly thick film negative, particularly in the highlight roll-off and grain.

Thanks! To be fair I did add a bit of grain and darken the blacks in post. But the base image was already contrasty.

I agree I can see it not being as sharp as other 1.8S and bokeh can be a bit rough the further you get from your subject. Where it really shines is close and personal with the subject. The 35mm focal length offers a bit of deformation when you get close to your subject. If you mix that with the amazing colours and contrast the lens offer, you have amazing 3D pop. When you understand it's limitation and strength It becomes one of the best if not the best 1.8S in my opinion.
