Nice work on this series. Definitely some odd behavior.
The photographer on display is probably Richard Prince.
Tom
Thanks Tom. And yes, the photographer is Richard Prince! This exhibit covered commercial, advertising work that Prince did in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Included were photos of the Marlboro Man which he is famous for.
Steve
Got me here Steve! The picture frame?
The exhibit must have been great! I love the olde actresses!! Such class!
My favorite such print is...."Realism"- Black and White Photograph of Marilyn Monroe by Milton H. Greene
One never knows…. In another life of mine 2 of my studio mates bought matching electric blue jogging suits, sneakers and head and wrist bands. They jogged along a route they mapped out and stopped in front of all the ‘proper’ art galleries in SoHo, Chelsea, and Tribeca. They ran in place in front of each gallery entrance for several minutes and I think they did a little calisthenics routine while their friend documented with a camera. They presented their route map and routine and the photos at a student exhibition.
Is it / was it art made from other references to art? Performance? Site specific? …. Yes. All of the above I would guess. It did provoke some interesting discussion from our visiting critics.
As for these images… maybe it is a gallery of framing technician and they are documenting the corners / edges?

Possibly some sort of technician. The gallery was fairly empty when I visited. This fellow had a mission as he was not only photographing this photo but others also, from the same strange angles.
