I'm over here trying to get someone to reply so I can give them money for an X-Pro 3, and I'm reading this wondering I should just wait a month before buying a camera. If the specs are right and this is sub-1000... holy crap. It almost can't be, right? This feels like 1200 at least to me.

When they were announced, X-T30 II was 899 and X-S10 was 999. X-S20 is 1299. So it's unlikely the X-T50 is below 1000, unfortunately. Those days are gone.

My thoughts exactly. I'm using the X-T30ii along with an X-T3. As someone who would very much like to stay with the 26mp sensor, I'm now scratching my head wondering if there will ever again be an upgrade path for me with Fujifilm X.
It won't have weather resistance. This is reserved for Fuji's higher end models. It will have the 40mp sensor being photo-centric and IBIS.
I'm guessing it won't have the X-T5 tilt out screen.
Just back from a weekend where I took both the X-T5 and X-T30ii, but ended up shooting entirely on the X-T30ii. It is amazing how good that 26mp sensor is. Depending on one's needs the 40mp sensor is better, but the lower res sensor could be said to be more film like.

If Canon can sell a full frame R8 for 1200, Fuji better be able to sell a crop XTwhatever for <$1000....
Didn't the R8 retail for $1500?
I still think the XT50 is going to be $999 but $1099 or $1199 would not shock me. This line has always always been priced between the XT100/200 line and the XS line so it's not that hard to predict with some confidence what the price will be.
Specs-wise, it appears more capable than the X-S20. Assuming that is true, it might be hard to price it lower unless X-S20 had abysmal sale numbers and Fuji needs another breakout product like the X100vi. But if it is priced too close to the X-T5, people might just get the X-T5 unless they value the compactness and weight of the X-T50.
What are the major features that will distinguish the X-T50 from the X-T5? Except for size, they appear to be basically the same cameras. What am I missing?
If I were to extrapolate from the X-T3 (left) vs X-T30 (right) and make some other guesses...
1) Hybrid screen vs tilt screen
2) 2 vs 1 card slot
3) D-pad vs joystick only i.e. More customization vs fewer customization
4) Larger EVF vs smaller EVF
5) Heavier vs lighter
6) Big vs Small battery?
7) 1/8000 vs 1/4000 fastest shutter speed
8) 1/250 vs 1/180 flash sync speed
9) No built-in flash vs Yes built-in flash
10) Slightly deeper grip vs shallower grip
11) $1299 vs $799 (god damn inflation...)
I sold the X-T3 for the X-T30 because I realized I never used the better features 99% of the time anyway. Also, there was a killer pwp deal where you could get the fujicrons for $200 with X-T30 purchase. The X-T30 with the 27mm or 18mm pancakes is quite the sexy 'pocketable' combo that can't be said for the X-T3.

Fujirumors posted an image of the X-T50. It has a beefier grip, so the ergonomics should be better. Maybe they have tilted the battery to make room for the IBIS unit, similar to the X-S10. The body is also rounder, similar to the X-S10. I personally much prefer the X-T30's sharper shape. The X-T50 looks less retro and less pretty. Will there be a silver version?
Latest rumors so small battery (like the 100VI) and no weather sealing. Not sharing batteries and no weather sealing are non-starters for me. I feel like making it smaller and lighter to carry but not weather sealing is a little inconsistent. Looks like it will be priced north of $1k as I expected.

Current rumour is 50% price hike, putting it at about €1,500.00 / $1,400.00 US, pretty close to the X-T5
I suppose it has most of the guts of the X-T5, but one would think that smaller EVF, smaller battery, no weather sealing, simpler screen tilt mechanism and now old technology should make it a bit cheaper.
Body costs €1499, XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 costs €799. I can almost hear Fuji saying: "I don't want to make this camera. I wanted to focus on video cameras. Since you insist on it, you have to pay for it." The pricing is crazy. I can see the X-T50 not selling well and Fuji quickly discount or discontinue it. That said, if it has the X-T5's EVF and shutter mechanism, and has good ergonomics, it's maybe worth considering. Considering what it has gained, giving up the larger battery and WR may be a worthy trade off for a compact body.
I should have kept my X-T30 which I bought $600 new from B&H before the pandemic, as a retro compact body. The new X-T50 looks less retro and a bit too chunky. Or I should have kept the X-E4 and X-S10 I bought open box for $700... I don't think we will see that kind of prices in our life time.

Ultimately, that's my issue with it. It's going to be smaller than an X-T5, but not a lot smaller. It'll have 80-90% of the functions of an X-T5 at 80-90% of the price. So why not just get an X-T5?
I will say the grip appears to be an improvement. And I do like the X-Txx line. But I'll stick with my X-T30.
