For anyone who wants to make the jump from their current Rebel to this one, $899 is a pretty darn good price for what you get in this camera. If you can get $700 or so for your current body and kit (if you don't like it), another $200 isn't bad for this jump if you have a few other lenses. All of the new features are great. A wheel would have been great, not sure how much it would have cost to add that compared to staying with the current buttons. I wish they would have bumped it to 5fps. I really want more speed. I wonder as well if the AI servo is basically as accurate as the 20D (with 7 points that is). We'll have to see I guess. I also wonder in what tangible ways the sensors between the XT and 20D differ, excluding the slight difference in pixel count. They almost seem to be the same in many ways.

What are you talking about, the Rebel XT is the successor to the Rebel.
What's up with those NB-2L batteries? I have those in my powershot, and they suck! I hope they have improved them, because the old ones are nowhere near as good as BP511's..
The battery for the 350D is the NB-2LH according to Canon. Maybe that's not the same as the NB-2L batteries you're talking about.

Here's Nikons 5 year trend. Their stock is up because Intel announced a large order for steppers. Canon is one of the other two stepper producers, so this will benefit Canon as well.
Canon and Nikon steppers.... suck when compared to ASML and Ultratech...
Well, the 300d is going to be $700 for the body, so that's probably $550 in 6 months and the 350d (xt, whatever) will probably be about $750 in 6 months. I get this from the 20d being almost 20% off MSRP already.
Read the paragraph immediately under the pic of the camera...
Aha! Well, the 350D indeed looks so much better than the 300D that I can imagine there's still room at the bottom for the 300D.
I wonder about the 10D - it's still listed on Canon's EOS website. Isn't the 10D discontinued? Surely with the 350D the 10D is really becoming outdated.
Hm weird, Canon will sure have a crowded DSLR lineup now
They will really drop the price of the 300D then, otherwise nobody would buy it with the 350D available.
Makes you wonder about the 3D
About the NB-2LH: it's an updated model of the NB-2L, about 30% more capacity, which doesn't seem like much. But maybe it's because of the LCD usage of the powershot the batteries seem so crappy. Well we'll see
I guess I could switch batteries between the 350D and the powershot, if I decide to buy the 350D
Don't know why I'd wanna do that, but I could
I really wonder about the AF though, it looks like it's not as fast as the 20D.
Fun times ahead, I really want a semi-pro 3D body, but surely can't afford it.
The 20D with the price lowering becomes more attractive, but might not be worth the difference with the 350D for me. I'll probably stick with the lower bodies for some more time, maybe keep the 300D as a backup.
Glass is a lot better investment right now, that's for sure
Hummm..I think the time has arrived to move from my D60. Looks great, I mean the black version. I really don't mind if it is small or lightweight...after all thats what everyone wants (no!..I am not considering "size does matter" debate ).
I know its just a minor detail, but why would Canon make the rubber grip on the body itself that smooth material, but make the rubber on the battery grip the textured rubber? Why woulnd't they just pick one or the other and use it for both.

I don't think so. What would the price of 20D be if 350D would go to $750 since 350D is close to 20D? Canon will not drop down the 20D unless Nikon release D200.
I don't see how the 300D will go on selling alongside the 350D unless it is significantly cheaper. I would certainly put in an extra $200 for the 350D. It's better than the 300D on all counts. So the 300D will have to be at least that much cheaper.
Then again it could be Canon's way of keeping the large chunk of marketshare with the cheapest DLSRs in the world. However, having said that, I'm sure 300D production has decreased... if not ceased and market forces/demand ultimately will be the talker.
I've also heard that certain stores have been told there will be no more stock of the 300D, as the 350D will be out.
Why does canon keep messing up good things about cameras? When they went from the 10d to the 20d they went from a solid body to a more plastic version. the also decreased the weight noticeably...
I cant even hold the 20d in my hand it is so small.
