p.1 #1 · Canid collection

Fox, Wolves, Coyotes. All part of the same biological family-Canidaes
All extremely intelligent, adaptable, cunning, loyal to their mates, painfully beautiful, and unfortunately widely persecuted.
All animals 101% wild. Thanks for taking a look.

"We humans fear the beast within the wolf because we do not understand the beast within ourselves."
Gerald Hausman-Turtle Island Alphabet

Very nice images. 10 is my favorite. If I remember correctly, the wolf is easier to kill off than the coyote because of it's choice of food. (Yellowstone) Wolves tend to eat mainly elk so they would poison a dead elk to kill the wolves. But the coyotes eat more things so it's harder to kill them by poisoning one food source and if they have less pups one year, they will adjust and have more pups to make up for the loss. There's more to it than that but that's all I can remember without using a cheat sheet. I'm always reading the bear attack books, mountain lion and wolf books and that's what I think I remember from something I once read.

Beauties Gary. 2, 3, 9 and 10 are my picks though there all very attractive images. All of your subjects look to be in great shape, not raggedy as some wild creatures become.

Love your treatise on these beauties Gary. They are all terrific and have me nostalgic.

When I was young my Dad had a huge silver timberwolf-shepherd named Silver.
Best dog ever. (Says every kid who ever had a dog, I know)

Thanks Morris. I'm getting a bit raggedy myself

Thanks Eric. I don't know, we had a dog, Jake, while I was growing up, couldn't stand that nasty little thing

Thank you.
The fox were from San Pedro. The wolves showed up the third day of a six day camping trip on Katmai. And the coyotes were from Hermon, California which is a small community about halfway between downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena.

Thanks Karl. Yeah, that Gray Wolf with the salmon was a fantastic experience. From catch to the head being eaten all happened right in front of me.
