The advertisement depicts an Olympus OM-1 SLR 35mm film camera.
Why is OM Systems stating they have been making cameras for nearly a 100 years?
Well…we know why…because they are/were/are ?!? Olympus.
if OM Systems is still using Olympus’ name, heritage and history in their advertisements why all the hoopla about the name change of the OM-1II?

Yeah, I've yet to see it substantiated that the new model was just to relieve them of the 'expired brand deal' but constantly see it being repeated. There are still so many lenses left with the Olympus name.

If you go to the OM Systems site, you’ll get a animation that combines Olympus and Maitani into OM, so yes they’re very much into the history of the original brand and its illustrious one-time genius designer.

How about we just narrow it down to 'all users of m4/3 (or is it just Olympus/OM?)' are silly dishonest liars?

Aside from the test stuff that they give back…which of the OM Ambassadors do not pay retail for their equipment?
In most/all the Olympus/OM Ambassadors reviews I’ve ever watched, the Ambassadors say they will “buy” the thing if they liked it.

why do some folks love to use the word biased/unbiased as though using it makes them the default high winner of ongoing or future arguments?

what 'people' do you expect will be unbiased about any product they've purchased from a company other than those whom have never purchased a product from any particular company/brand before?
I buy m4/3 stuff because i like the stuff because it gives me great results. I've been buying m4/3 stuff for a decade.

so...someone who has never used/purchased m4/3 equipment before....they are surely unbiased to m4/3 and it's manufactures, correct?
after the first hour of use they arrive on the interweb to report that their m4/3 equipment is garbage...that surely is the best genuine and most sound unbiased advice isn't it?
there is an '...' nice person on another web forum who uses Nikon and Sony and also has 2 (or 3) OM-1s. he always insists there is an AF problem with BOTH of his OM-1s because they both do not do some specific thing that the Nikon and Sony do. he's gotta be correct right? i mean surely he knows how to best set up the OM-1s to best suit his requirements of them. and surely so would someone (a new m4/3 user) who just opened up the box and turned the camera on for an hour.

Why would you believe a marketing email as an indication that OM systems now owned by JIP is still Olympus? Olympus sold its camera division to JIP, whose main business seems to be extracting value out of distressed assets. This is not the same thing as turning companies around.
If you look at the products released since JIP took over, the only really new products have been ones that were largely already developed by Olympus - the 150-400 pro, the 90 macro and the OM-1. Everything else has just been reskinning old products, or minor tweaks to old products that clearly don't cost much, e.g. OM-1ii is on aOM-1 with a slight memory upgrade and a bit of extra software thrown in. his is just keeping the Olympus pulse alive while there is some money to be made.
My guess is JIP looked at Olympus's unreleased camera IP/products and the goodwill in the Olympus camera user base and made the calculation that there was value to be extracted if Olympus's camera division could be bought for a sufficiently low price. In other words they saw some value to be extracted through a managed exit from the camera industry, rather than an immediate exit. In the unlikely event M4/3 products gain in popularity they might sell as a going concern, but otherwise they are just wringing dollars out of what if left of the Olympus camera division. There is no sign from JIP that there is any real product development going on.

Who knows?
I’ve read that it takes a few years or more from concept to release for a camera.
It doesn’t surprise me then that the former Olympus employees who are now OM employees are completing projects that were in the works.
I guess if in another year or two or three a new and good camera is released from OM Systems that will show us that OM made a camera of their very own and perhaps that was the plan from the beginning.
Who knows?
Not a concern of mine. I don’t loose sleep over this stuff.
