The Z mount 50mmF2 APO-Lanthar passes the in-focus information and f-stop (must set manually) to the camera, the camera's AF patch , [ ], turns green when focus is acquired, AFS, not for AFC.
The M mount lenses are 100% manual. Adapters, LM-Z are available to implement AF but I have not used one, and yes, they are $200-$300 from what I've seen. None of my M mount lenses are chipped, the adapter has no electronics or contacts.
I prefer doing manual AF with M mount, focus peaking is great, and I have the Video Record button set for 100% zoom (FP does not work at 200%, at least for me). Coarse focus, zoom, fine tune, and click - in less time than it takes to read the steps. Now if you're shooting grand-kids, sports, or street, you'll probably use zone focus which is another story.
I don't think any of the AF tracking features are available with Voigtländer lenses. Perhaps someone else can provide more information?

I’ve been told that adapter doesn’t read the lens chip. One that does is a few hundred.

M glass or any lens mounted on the techart adapter will have full AF, tracking, etc .. it's treated as an AF lens , just no proper exif info

Yep, nice to see guys posting photos here. I hope we will raise this thread like it did in Sony forum.
My pre-ordered Zf is coming this Wednesday. Don't have any lens for it yet, but one of them will be CV40/1.2 Z
I am really digging the BW shots, especially the first one. It captures the atmosphere beautifully. Was it out of camera JPG, or your processing? Either way, it is right on the money, I am curious to know.

Bob, what manual adapter do you use for your m-mount lenses? Are you happy with it? So, the focus confirmation works with a dummy adapter?
A question with two answers:
1. For CV M Mount lenses, I use a Vello LA-NZ-LM (dumb) adapter. I recall neither the price nor source; tight fit with no play. Totally manual - focus & aperture, no focus patch display..
2. For CV Z Mount lenses (Camera Quest) , no adapter required. The lenses communicate with camera so you get 100% accurate EXIF information. Focus and aperture are totally manual however the camera's focus display shows the patch which does turn green when focus is acquired. For precise focus (well as good as your going to get) I use focus-peaking combined with 100% zoom. Again, this is for CV Z Mount lenses.
After researching further from my earlier post I found this " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">video with a thorough discussion of the Techart Adapter TZM-02 which apparently does everything except set the aperture for you for non-Z mount glass (M mount, Sony Mount, Canon Mount). It is pricey and I don't have a Z9. In my mind overkill for a Z6ii and manual focusing M Mount glass is not a problem, actually it is fun and satisfying.
