There is no discernible difference in image quality. The viewfinder on the vII is sharper and easier to focus but less accurate in its preview (IMO). If you're going to be shooting verticals with an L bracket, it might be next to impossible to fit the remote release on the new camera unless you can find a slim line right angle adapter to go from 2.5mm to 3.5mm whereas the remote jack is on the right on the older model.

The new camera is slightly faster in burst mode but that won't affect your landscape shots. The old camera will shoot at least double the number of frames on average per battery charge than the new one but the new camera has somewhat better video capabilities.

Knowing what I know now after having the vII since it came out, I would not have bought it. Most of the marketing hype was simply hype.

With the new camera you're buying the option of a pivoting a higher-resolution finder, and you're getting more function buttons. I'm so committed to the movable finder that I skipped the GFX 100s. For me, the GFX 100 II makes sense, but that's an eccentric position that I'm not urging on anyone else. The images are going to be the same.

Yes, the pivoting viewfinder is nice, and I have the adapter for doing that, but for most it's not going to be $1500 nice, well, closer to $2K once you buy the adapter as well.

I still remain very high on the GFX 100 II, but I think everyone here is spot on. There are specific use cases where the 100 II really becomes useful, like the upgrade EVF (for manual lenses this is huge), and improved video capabilities.

I ultimately sold mine and kept the GFX 100s, and used the funds to pick up an M11 instead.

The best thing about the GFX100ii for me is the drop in second hand prices for the GFX 100s I've picked up a 100s for quite literally a third of the new price in Australia for the 100 ii. I would certainly appreciate the better AF of the 100 ii but for the price difference I can keep my A7rV and 70-200 GM 2 lens which gives me the fast AF when I need it.

Bobby, I know that some people are claiming this and maybe it's true, but all I know is that when I shot Kait's show at the Baked Potato several weeks ago and had the 100s in one hand and the 100 II in the other, I didn't notice that one was faster than the other. They both just worked. Now, admittedly, that's not a scientific test but just my impression, and the people I was shooting were not moving too much, well as much as musician move while playing live but certainly not walking straight toward the camera.

I'll try and do some better comparative tests soon.

I agree with many of the points here. Having owned both and currently the 100 II, I do feel the newer camera tracks moving subjects better than the 100s.

For static subjects, and I tested this today with the GF250 with both bodies, if there was any speed increase it was barely noticeable if at all. We'll see how much better it is with a person coming toward you.

I agree with your assessment, Peter. When I had my middle school son run towards me, the 100s struggled to keep up whereas the 100 II tracked quite well. It isn't full frame speed but good enough for my needs. I am using adapted glass so maybe that has something to do with it. As for whether the upgrade is worth it, for most, probably not. IQ on both cameras is superb.
