I read somewhere that Hasbro couldn't figure out what to call these because "boys didn't play with dolls" thus GI Joe was coined.
Part of my childhood was playing with GI Joes. My Mom saved my collection and gave it to me after my wife and I bought our house. I have about 40 of these GI Joes displayed in my home office. I am hoping my future grandchildren will get to play with it.
Second from the right is an updated version purchased in the early 2000s. The rest are from my GI Joe Soldiers of the World Series that I bought in Hong Kong from 1969 to 1971.
Did I play with them? You bet, I'd close my bedroom door and play with these for hours on end.
