p.28 #18 · Nikon Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena Image Thread | |
My absolute favorite lens when it comes to pet photography.
Plena, like few other lenses, manages to bring rendering aesthetics into play where environmental conditions offer little.

The yield with the Z8 & Plena, regarding AF, is also fantastic.
This is a OOC JPEG GIF, highly compressed with only 256 colors, of a short burst series at 20fps, and the autofocus nails every single one of the burst series perfectly at f/1.8, with the dog running at full speed.
Compared to my Z6, which struggled miserably with autofocus in fast dog burst series, simply couldn't refocus quickly enough in AF-C mode with fast movement directly towards the camera, this is almost like cheating.
It looks slower in the GIF than it actually was.
For better clarity, there's a delay of 0.4 - 0.5 seconds between each frame.
In reality, it was a burst of 28 shots, initially with two short pauses (short jumps in the GIF) during continuous shooting, then 20 FPS continuous shooting.
So, the dog was actually running for not much longer than 3 seconds.
