I've posted a couple of photos from this shoot here before, but I haven't attempted to make a color shot from this shoot because I've been struggling a bit with getting the right "look" for it. I recently bought some digital backdrops though, one of which finally gave me the inspiration I needed to make a color image from this shoot. This is a portrait I took of one of my best friends, Vinnie.

Canon 5D MKIII, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens, lit in studio using two Neewer S101-400 strobes. The main light had a 47" octagon umbrella with a diffuser, and the second light had a 24" octa box, which was used to create some subtle light from behind for a bit of separation. I'd have used a different modifier for this purpose, but at the moment these two are what I have so I do my best to make it work.

Daniel, I LOVE men in hats! Being follicaly impaired, I wear a hat Fall to Summer. I especially like bowlers but tried one once and didn't look right on me. Homburgs are my choice.

Vinnie wears this perfectly! The colors in the entire frame compliment. The tones are "right on"!

I also have "background software" but rarely use it.

Women in bowlers also look pretty great. Maybe a suggestion for down the line?
Again "hats off" to you and Vinnie!

Hi Daniel

This is very good photo (I do like classic Rembrandt lighting technique in studio portraits)
But.. Im not sure if such warm color grade is way to go.. It looks almost like sepia

Maybe consider slightly colder tonality (?)

Thank you, and I appreciate the feedback. I edited it this way because I felt that a warm vintage inspired tone felt appropriate to match the vintage look of the bowler hat and handlebar mustache.
