On Wednesday I headed to Mount Assiniboine. I could not find anyone else so I booked the helicopter and the campground.

Whew was it chilly at night for my preparation and dark.

And after they told me there were 5 grizzlies active in the area, I did a whole lot of talking to myself on the trail

Gorgeous fall colours as normal.

Here are my best shots of the 2 days.

himurak: Glad you like the painting style. It was a very foggy morning with the mountain only becoming available for brief 45s periods as the clouds rolled in and out at Sunburst Lake. I hiked up and set up my lightweight helinox chair and just waited for the opportunities. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

pixelpreaching: The were taken with R5, RF 24-105 stm, and one [Magog Lake and Cerulean Mt] with Laowa 12mm (and 10 stop nd). I walked about 20km this day up and down and needed the weight savings. We were at Lake O'Hara this week and it was much cloudier.

Lake Magog really drew me in. Just a great sense of place and space.

This is oddly specific, but I really dig how you handled the reflection of the mountains vs the reciprocal light on the rocks in 2. Super lovely

mike reid: It was a perfect day for colours - fog, a bit of clouds and glorious colour. Lake Ohara is one of my favourites but you were lucky to get into it and unlikely that it was cloudier. Glad you like the colours. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

scottsoutter: Lake Magog is a large lake and perfectly situated in front of Mount Assiniboine, with Larch and Pine trees and a reflection. It's a rare day when you can see the top of Assiniboine because it is so high and there are some clouds in the sky and it's calm enough for reflection. It drains underground to Lake Og. Picture number 2 is Sunburst Lake looking directionally south onto Mount Strom at Sunburst Peak. Sunburst peak is smaller mountain than Mount Assiniboine (the largest in the area) but it is close in and until you climb high on another mountain it looks massive compared to Mount Assiniboine. Glad you like Magog (7) and Sunburst Peak reflection (2). I brought my 12mm lens with (2) in mind. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Assiniboine is one of the nicest places to visit. It's about 23km in or $400 return in helicopter. But you need reservations to get a ticket on the helicopter.
