A fine study in layers. #1 clearly stands above the rest for me.
Thank you Rajan. Do you miss the USA after all these years?
By the way, your Iceland photos are enough to make folks travel there in droves - just beautiful!

Anil,
No, I do not miss the USA at all. Over 30 years there I was fortunate to see significant portions of that vast, beautiful country and experience some of the best it had to offer (before the advent of the smartphones, social media & Wokeism era).
Because of family and other commitments my wife & I have to travel to Europe and Goa/India frequently, despite our strong distaste for general travel and airports. Iceland being just a short skip away from Europe makes it highly convenient for us. Long hauls from SFO to European hubs or to HKG/SIN/NRT used to be brutal.
One other thing - produce, milk & dairy in Iceland are so good that Americans have no idea what the real thing is. Most of Europe also enjoys a high quality of food & ingredients, but Iceland is next level due to the purity of its water from which flows everything else down the chain.
As with everything in life, there are tradeoffs. Life here is intimately tied to unstable & unpredictable weather on a day-to-day basis. The extremes of darkness & daylight can be unsettling to some/many.

It's a controversial topic, but I agree with you on most of it.
Life now revolves around who's cancelled and who can cancel you - cue Bud Light and many others.

Sounds like Colorado several years ago

I wouldn't fare well there.
If it's sunny, I wake up happy and full of energy.
If it's rainy, I wake up moody but still full of energy.
If it's cloudy, I wake up depressed.

@jm10 ... Thank you and looking forward to seeing your photos from GSMNP next year
We plan to go back there again to see fall foliage. 8 hour drive, but worth it.
