Yes, it is too heavy. But I do use my tripod at times.
This lens has so much to offer that I believe I will order one within a few days to weeks. Excited about its short, light zoom throw and the stabilization.

Just got a Z8 and 180-600 today. My first try in the backyard with the combo with very heavy crops. I don't have any CF Express Type B cards yet, so I hit the buffer very quickly with an SD card.

My second go with the 180-600 on the Z8 during the morning. All images are wide open at ISO 12800 (cleanup with LR Denoise) with fairly low shutter speeds (e.g. 1/400) as it was still a bit dark. The grey heron was heavily cropped as it was across the waterway and couldn't get any closer.

Just ordered a Kirk lens collar/plate to replace the stock one. Anybody else replace the lens collar?
Not yet. I hate the thought of spending $250 for a replacement but the original is just awful. My only complaint with this lens. Please let us know if you feel it's worth the upgrade.
