Please keep it going ... your images are a good selling point for this lens.
I've not had time to use mine outdoors, as the winter turned bitter here and it's ice, snow and frostbite everywhere.
Hopefully this weekend warms up enough to go out and test it.

Thank you ! That's really nice to hear.
I'm at a standstill myself since returning from SoCal. It's just grey skies and cold, cold here in WNY. Probably for another 2 months or so.

FedEx delivered my lens after an excruciating week wait where they kept delaying delivery due to the winter weather last week. I just got some test shots on the local robins in some very poor light and oh man, so excited to get out and take some real shots and really put this bad boy through its paces. The focus is so fast and snappy, almost completely silent along with the VR. So excited to harass the local birds again.

You are knocking it out of the park with this lens... I really like the first and third shots.. I love when images appear that you are viewing a secretive subject without being noticed.

Thank you Bruce. That's much appreciated. I'm really looking forward to kayak season starting in April. That's when I'll be able to hopefully put it to good use.

Beautiful lens, especially when you can fill the frame
It sure is! It beats the pants of the Sony 200-600G for handsome colors and nice, smooth background rendering.
I also saw in a video review that, compared to the old dslr 200-500mm lens, it performs noticeably better when shooting over a greater distance. That was thé one reservation I still had about this lens, because sometimes wildlife and birds are at a distance, and cropping is in vain when a lens does not render clearly and detailed over distance.
I have to say that it loses most of its magic with the 1.4TC regarding background rendering (although my reference is the much, much more expensive Sony 600GM with 1.4TC), but the bare lens is looking so good, that I am now seriously considering breaking my own rule of wanting to shoot only óne system (and if possible even only óne camera body), and get a Z8 with the 180-600. If I can get accustomed to the Z8, I will for sure add a PF lens in future, I had the 500PF for a few years and really would like that sort of portability again. Sony released a stunning 300mm f2.8, but that is just too short, and I really don't like 2x extenders. I think the 600PF would be a good light travel lens with the Z8.

@sum1sgrampa is going to help Nikon sell this lens a lot
@ChrisMak .. still waiting for this winter weather to clear a bit and for sun to come out, to test the 180-600 vs 200-600 - hopefully this weekene

Funny you bring up the "shooting at distance aspect." I never owned the 200-500, went for the Sigma S instead when they both were released. So I can't comment whether the 180-600 performs better at distance but that's something I still have reservations about and have been thinking about quite a bit. I like printing images. That's my true test. Most of the time 18x24. Sometimes larger, rarely smaller. I have yet to print anything from this 180-600. I have a couple that I'd like to print and they aren't as close as the roadrunner above. I'm anxious to see how they hold up.

My prints are usually a minimum of 12x18 though usually larger up to 24x36 and if the image is well composed and not cropped it holds up very well. Not quite as good as some with my Canon 600 f/4, Nikon 800 PF but the colors and contrast are surprisingly impressive. Maybe if I have the time and energy, I’ll shoot the same subject side by side (adjusting distance of course for FL and image mag and then print them out large to see if there are any distinctions.

Got a few snaps this morning before work at a local lake, nothing to compare to what is getting posted on the reg in here but the lens performed great in pretty mediocre light.
