"William F. Moran, Jr. or Bill Moran (May 1, 1925 - February 12, 2006) was born in Frederick, Maryland and is considered the father of the modern knife forging movement. He is credited with reintroducing the process of making pattern welded steel (the ancient process called Damascus steel).
