I hike this towpath regularly! It is very shady and the Potomac River flows South to DC. The bridge was replaced about 5 years ago and this was a metal structure that replaced the old wood.

The entire bridge could be a "triangle". The metalwork is very unique and very unusual for a foot bridge.
