Who cares about af use mf lenses older the better. Might get a 55 micro already have 20cm etc
Yes, and aperture control for AiS lenses. I get semmi auto aperture using the fringer adapter on my Fuji Xt3 as long as the lens has a chip, makes my 40mmf/2 Ultron great to use. If they could do it with the feelers so no chip was needed it would be good.
A body with 45MP sensor (?) and improved autofocus compared to Z6II/Z7II at 1,999 $ is not a rumor, is a nonsense.
I wonder why people still read nikonrumors ...
I would much prefer a compact & lightweight A7c-like body than the n-th camera with outdated ergonomics.

Yeah the rumored specs & price are whatever, but the announcement date seems like it might happen.
Funny you complain about ergonomics and then mention the A7c which has the absolute worst ergonomics of any FF mirrorless camera (poor EVF, no front dial, poor rear screen, old Sony menu layout)
Fuji still does retro ergonomics better than Nikon (A position on dials instead of PSAM lever), but neither are outdated.

I agree with your first point... the rumored specs and and price are not aligned.
If Nikon were to release a 47MP with "better than Z6II/Z7II AF" camera for $2000, this would seriously undercut sale of the latter models. It would be a brilliant move to grab market share back from Sony and Canon, but it won't happen.
I would not be surprised if the camera is ZFc like with a 24MP sensor and refined AF engine. If they price it at +$300 from the Z6II, they will have a good seller.
There are lots of photographers looking for a capable street camera. Continue to fill out the "retro designs" of the smaller primes and they will have buyers.
I think this camera is all but due soon, maybe not on the 2nd but close. Matt Granger just did a video mentioning it and the chance to deploy an FTZiii with a motor. He's not a Nikon ambassador per se, but he usually has enough of an inside scoop to know when something is real and due soon; he doesn't really talk about a rumored product unless it's due out in a few weeks. Makes me wonder if the FTZiii might actually be coming as well...

Not sure if it’s been said yet, but don’t even bother thinking about the D6 sensor. It doesn’t have on-sensor PDAF, so they’d have to make some significant changes to have it not be stuck on CDAF in a mirrorless model.
Just on this point, they wouldn't need any significant changes because Nikon achieves their OSPDAF via half-masking the microlens layer. It's been done with the D750 -> Z5 sensor (IMX128) for example. But I agree that the chances of using a D6 sensor would be incredibly slim.
It's really the processor that will improve the AF so anything with EXPEED 7 should get a jump in AF performance regardless of the sensor. Of course, faster readout sensors are still better and may enable things like omitting the mechanical shutter and much improved EVF performance but I believe the processor will be doing most of the lifting in the AF department.

If an FTZiii would shut up the screwdrive posters once and for all, PLEASE, Nikon!
You know they'll find something else to whine about . . . 'it eats battery life' 'it's too big' 'it's the wrong color' 'you can't use eye detect with pre-ai lenses . . .'
I did not like the Df as much as I thought that I would. My idea of an easy-to-handle DSLR became a D850 or a D5, with a reasonably compact lens, the large gripping surface being ergonomic and orthopedic, while the relatively small lens keeps the whole rig convenient and easy, on my aging wrists, to handle. Yet, now, I find myself following the Zf, though not obsessively so. Perhaps the Zf would be something I could find “pocket-able,” or, at least packable in a belt pouch.
Yeah and Sony ain't going to do it since they didn't even change some of the design short comings from the A6000 still. Ripolini wrote:
It wouldn't be much difficult in 2023 to design an A7c-like camera that doesn't have the defects of the A7c.

It wouldn't have been that hard to design an A7c-like camera without the defects in 2020 either . . .
Sure but you know that in this forum we all believe that Nikon designers are more clever than Sony's 😄

And yes I had one - wonderful sensor, nice auto-focus but it just wasn't fun to use.
Do you think there is room for improvement or is the A7c the best compact FF MILC one can design & manufacture?
