This is the front gate lock at Ft Frederick in Big Pool, MD. The doors are about 15ft high and 3-4inches thick.
The hook at the bottom secures the latch bar to lockbar. This was the western most outpost(Appalachian Gap Trail) for the French and Indian War. Major Geo Washington of the British Army passed through here on his way to FT Dusquene(Pittsburgh) during this time.
