p.2 #1 · I Went To Nikon This Morning Am Getting A New Camera

Assuming this is a true event, all I can think of is ,” Yeah, this kind of thing can happen only in New York”, as a former New Yorker. And, I am so sorry to hear the horrible situation you had to go through, and I am happy to hear how things resolved after all. I just sent in a lens for repair to NY service center, I hope it will be ‘repaired’ and not destroyed.

something's not adding up here. OP posted that he brought in (NOT shipped) the Z8 for the recall but it they had to notify him for "approval" of repair after 6 days? wat. why? to say that it's strange is an understatement. it's a recall; no approval is needed for that because it's clearly under warranty. i've had several equipment repairs and...if it's not going to cost me anything...i don't need to approve anything...they just do it. in fact someone called that out that exact same thing. OP also mocked the way the repair person restored his decals...but the way it was put in the first place wasn't stellar either. too much of this is very off-putting.

The service process appears to be quite different depending on where you are. In India, when I go to the nearest service centre, they give me a form to be filled, in which I mention the problem I’m facing. After that the service executive attaches a lens and tests the camera and then takes a closer look at the physical condition of the camera. The service form has a long list that has to be filled by the service executive. Something like 1. Are there major scratches or dents on the body/ lens 2. Does the camera turn on, does the sensor look clean etc etc. basically a yes or no checklist.

I get a duplicate copy of that service request form acknowledged by the service technician which I must produce when I go back to collect the camera. This is a proof of the camera’s condition when I gave it for servicing.
