p.2 #1 · I Went To Nikon This Morning Am Getting A New Camera
Assuming this is a true event, all I can think of is ,” Yeah, this kind of thing can happen only in New York”, as a former New Yorker. And, I am so sorry to hear the horrible situation you had to go through, and I am happy to hear how things resolved after all. I just sent in a lens for repair to NY service center, I hope it will be ‘repaired’ and not destroyed.

The service process appears to be quite different depending on where you are. In India, when I go to the nearest service centre, they give me a form to be filled, in which I mention the problem I’m facing. After that the service executive attaches a lens and tests the camera and then takes a closer look at the physical condition of the camera. The service form has a long list that has to be filled by the service executive. Something like 1. Are there major scratches or dents on the body/ lens 2. Does the camera turn on, does the sensor look clean etc etc. basically a yes or no checklist.
I get a duplicate copy of that service request form acknowledged by the service technician which I must produce when I go back to collect the camera. This is a proof of the camera’s condition when I gave it for servicing.
