p.1 #1 · Great horned owl couple and their owlets in 2023.
Early this spring, thanks to a tip from a fellow photographer, I was fortunate enough to observed this family over several weeks. It was interesting to see the owlets' growth and parents' collaboration - hunting and defending the nest from intruding ravens. These are some pictures and hope you all enjoy these.
1. One of the owlets perched near the nest tree and stared at me.
2. Mom brough home the dinner.
3. Mom fed the owlet.
4. Oh, hi human...
5. Fledglings are taking the steps from the nest.
6. Owlets with mom.
7. More owlets with mom.
8. Proud daddy. He was always nearby and chased away ravens when they came too close to the nest.

Excellent set of images!
I think #7 stands out as the best of the set.
You are fortunate to have seen these owls. I wish someone would tell me about a nest like this.
I think you should consider posting larger images.

Thank you John. Yes, that one was around sunset and was quite a bit darker in the forest.

Love the details, colors and moods you captured.
Just out of curiosity, would you share some EXIF type info?
TFS--these are just a joy to see!
Kim
Thank you Kim.
Most were taken at 700mm (500 x 1.4) but some were at 500mm F4. Shutter speeds were between 1/320 to 1/60 depending on the iso - less than 4000 was my goal.
