we were blessed with the clouds breaking and getting 10 minutes of good lighting before the sunt set. These are all taken from various points on Steptoe butte on the Palouse. Enjoy!

Lovely. There is an elegance to these photos that I can't quite put my finger on to define it better. Magic in the light and processing.

Thanks! Every time I visit Steptoe, the magical 10 minutes just before sunset when the dipping sun creates that soft lighting, as well as providing the contrasting shadows off the rolling hills... it can almost look like an oil painting for that short amount of time.

Thanks! Every time I visit Steptoe, the magical 10 minutes just before sunset when the dipping sun creates that soft lighting, as well as providing the contrasting shadows off the rolling hills... it can almost look like an oil painting for that short amount of time.

Thanks for the comment and agreed on special-ness of the area. Steptoe is 40 minutes from my house, so it's not that far of a trip for me.

This was taken this past Saturday. You should have vivid greens until mid-June, after that you will start seeing the golden colors start showing in the fields. Canola should start popping out soon as well.

I really like all of these with preference for the first one. The layers of color and play of light are beautiful.
The second one seems a little soft in the background but the muted tones are quite nice.
The third one is so vibrant and if it were my shot I might try a tighter crop.
I love telephoto landscapes as it is so much fun to find detail to isolate for the eye.

The third one I have shot many times and usually go for a tighter crop to put emphasis on the lonely tree. I had decided on a different crop to bring out the rolling hills lower in the frame.
Agreed on the telephoto lens, especially on the Palouse... it sure opens up creative ways to shoot.
