Certainly, the curvature of the field in this lens is quite pronounced. It's one of the most extreme examples I've come across, along with the MS Optics Apoqualia version. Correcting this curvature in such a compact lens is a challenging task. However, I'm still puzzled by how the MS Optics 24/2 performs significantly better in this regard.

Yeah it's weird because it would seem a 28mm lens would be easier to make than a 24.
In my use - using the BS lens to take snaps - I rarely notice it. And in the example I posted I think it improves the pic!
Does field curvature change with aperture? Perhaps I haven't noticed it as much because usually my pics are outdoors stopped down.

Stopping down makes the shape appear less pronounced, but it remains visible even at f/5.6 and f/8. This technique can be employed artistically and with a clear intent, just as in your photograph. I was considering that if someone wishes to have a subject in sharp focus at long distance while also keeping a portion of the foreground at the same level of focus, this approach could be quite effective when shooting landscapes at f/5.6 or f/8 for example.

Got mine today and I like how it fits my (relatively) small A7R II: the front of the lens and the front of the grip align almost perfectly. I also managed to immediately touch the front glass and put a nice fingerprint.

I just had time to go out for an hour before night (sunset is around 4:30PM here) and took a couple of images with the Brightin 28mm and my Sony A7R II. Yes the corners are bad and the lens is fiddly but I like it.
First two with the Voigtlander M to FE adapter, last one with the 7artisans Close Focus Adapter.

Found a cute old little Hoya 25.5mm filter to protect the lens from my fat fingers. As an added bonus, the lens cap is easier to screw on the filter than directly on the lens.
And some more pictures from today with the filter... it didn't fix the weird corners but doesn't seem to affect image quality either ;-)

Love this lens as a simple walk-around lens for street photography on my Sony A7RV....makes the camera so light and more pocketable.
Here is a quick picture I took with it last week in HK...zone-focused at f8, 1/400s and ISO 5000 (hence the grain)...it was already at dusk under an overpass.
Well worth the money, if I want optical perfection I have other (and larger) lenses for that.

Edit: First time posting a photo that I have much larger size on Flickr, not sure why it shows up so small....maybe somebody can explain the process to me :-)....the process outlined in the FAQ does not work for me....Show more →
