I've seen young loons and grebes travel on their parents backs, but not Sandhill colts. These little fellows are just three days old and one has figured out how to save energy. Excellent work. I have not seen colts riding on the back of the adult. Our Sandhills in MT are just beginning to nest. Colts may well be 3 weeks away.
