I don't often feel very comfortable in front of the camera, but sometimes I build up the courage to take a self portrait. This one is a couple years old, but it's a shot that honestly helps give me a some self confidence when I'm feeling down on myself. I don't own a tripod, so I used my skateboard propped up on my camera bag to get the camera where I wanted it and then used the ten second timer. Shot using an original Canon 5D with a Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 lens, and lit using natural light and a reflector.
Excellent! - I've seen this as your profile pic for quite a while and it's always reminded me a bit of a bass player acquaintance of mine (Tony Levin) from my rock and roll days.
Self confidence- feeling down?....Rest assured here you are neither Daniel! In my eyes.....
You have executed a form of composing a composition! I see no failures here. I speak as a viewer because I have not the skills to do portrait photography.
I would not "walk on by" if this was posted or in a gallery! Since Freddie Mercury was mentioned he addressed this same dilemma in his song, "Living On My Own"

I can totally see how looking at this image gives you self-confidence any time you might be down. It's a bad-ass image, and you have the perfect look for it.

Thank you. Being compared to a rocker is definitely a compliment to me.
