Leica has released two new watches, the Leica ZM 1 Monochrom Edition and the Leica ZM 2 Monochrom Edition, inspired by their latest camera, the Leica M11 Monochrom. The watches are designed with a minimalist aesthetic, removing all color and silver tones, except for the red dot. The black rhodium-plated, diamond-cut, sandblasted indices and hands are beneath an anti-reflective and strongly curved sapphire crystal, and the dial is milled from a solid block of high-strength aluminum to reinforce its shock-resistance.
The Monochrom Edition watch strap is made of black calf leather, identical to the texture of the M11 Monochrom camera, and crafted using a cut-edge construction with hand-stitching. Both models have a mechanical, hand-wound movement developed and produced in-house, with the Leica ZM 2 having an additional feature as a GMT-watch. The Leica ZM Monochrom Edition will be available from selected Leica stores worldwide starting in late May, with a recommended retail price starting at €11,550.00 for the Leica ZM 1 Monochrom and €15,450.00 for the Leica ZM 2 Monochrom, including VAT.
“It’s the wild colour scheme that freaks me,” said Zaphod whose love affair with this ship had lasted almost three minutes into the flight, “Every time you try to operate on of these weird black controls that are labelled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up black to let you know you’ve done it. What is this? Some kind of galactic hyperhearse?”
So, Leica put the red dot on the watch, but not on the M11M? Now everybody who wants to rob you will know it's a Leica watch.
Now, let me think. Leica watch or 0.95? Or should I just put the money into my new Lamborghini? I hate these decisions.

Who wears watches these days? I have some nice ones in my safe that I never wear anymore. Time to sell them.
Same here because I use an Apple Watch and would'nt go back.
But my son likes to wear one of my IWC so I gave it to him. I need to sell the other ones too.
Anyhow, people do and buy what they want and if it's a luxury watch, I'm happy for them.
I'm not really sure what the target is at these prices because there is a lot of competition. And if I wanted a nice mechanical german watch in this price range, I would go to Glashütte Original as I'm not crazy about A. Lange & Söhne but it is a matter of taste obviously
I’m just happy I’m not a watch guy. I only have a few cheap ones. Guess an Apple Watch is in my future, mostly because of its health features, but not yet.
