@yukosteel has published a teardown of the Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 Nokton Classic II S.C lens designed for the Leica M mount.

One notable excerpt from the article's conclusion is as follows:

"Cleaning and repairing Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 II Nokton Classic requires lots of attention due to compactly packed mechanics. There is strong securing glue applied to every bolt which increasing risk of stripping bolt head or damaging screwdriver. Definitely this disassembly is not recommended to perform unless you have lots of experience. From the other side mechanics is beautifully made and designed to last for decades if properly maintained. Reaching aperture chamber for dust cleaning is relatively easy if you have proper tools and lens has simple way to calibrate rangefinder focus precision."

I absolutely love using the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 Nokton lens with my M system. Recently, @yukosteel shared an article detailing a modification that allows for even closer focusing distances, beyond the standard 0.7m.

https://www.yukosteel.com/2023/04/mod-closer-focusing-distance-of-062m.html

I'm interested to know if it's possible to modify the lens internals to include an indentation that would detect when the lens naturally extends beyond the range of the rangefinder coupling. As you may know, some Voigtlander lenses have a minimum focus distance closer than 0.7m, which can create difficulties for photographers who unintentionally focus beyond the rangefinder range.

Having a "click" or indentation that indicates when the minimum focus distance reaches the rangefinder limit would be incredibly useful. It would eliminate the guesswork involved in determining if the lens is still within the range of the rangefinder.

Furthermore, It would be awesome to improve the minimum focus distance of my Leica 35/1.4 Steel Rim lens, which is currently limited to 1m.

The 35/1.4 SC II is my main lens on the M246. Nice to know that it is well made on the inside!

Thanks for posting this. If I ever finally decide that I need a 35mm character lens, the Nokton 35mm f/1.4 II, either MC or SC, or perhaps both, are at the top of the list. It is good to get this look, inside the lens.

Love the compact size of this lens. I don't think I will try to open this one up however!

I love both the 40 and the 35 1.4 for how small they are. I treat them like an 2.0 lens with a turbo-character mode.
