I have an image that the coordinator Lisa says they have a client that wants to use the image for 12 months.
Problem is I am a Free member and was told I would have to upgrade to the Pro membership to be able to get the information about the potential client etc. The normal Pro membership is $359.88 (US) yearly, but would offer me a 70% discount if I sign up now. Once I sign up for the Pro membership I'll get the information and was told I would I paid well.
I'm not sure if this is something I should spend my money on ($107) on taking a chance that I will make more than the cost of the membership. Also I feel like I am being held hostage.
Your thoughts or experience with YouPic is needed.
So there was no way for this so-called "client" to contact you directly on Youpic or find your website or your profile on Instagram or anything? Sounds like a scam to me. I would stay far away.
I occasionally get emails via my Instagram profile from a "curator" praising my photos and asking me to submit my work to join some exhibition or show or whatever and either pay $500 CAD entry fee or sell 20 tickets to my friends at $25 CAD each. I just ignore them. $359.88 USD is not far from $500 CAD.
Read the web reviews and that Lisa/spambot is all over the place with that same offer. It seems like a ripoff to me that you would pay anything. I don't know photography, but typically the customer should pay the fees.
