I shoot both systems and asked myself the same question. For my uses (portraiture and architecture) there is no way I would give up that gfx combo. I have the 80/1.7 and 110/2. I sold my 55/1.7 as I preferred the rendering of the 80. Have other zooms to cover wide and early tele ranges. For studio sessions and when I don’t need fast af I will pick my gfx every single time. The image quality is drop dead gorgeous.

I've been on the fence on trading my GF 110 for the Z 85/1.2. It's impossible to tell via the size of uploads here if it's bang on for eye focus, and the 100S + GF 110 is fantastic at it.
I need to rent one and put it through its paces for sure!

One of the best image threads in FM. I just ran through it stem to stern. I have the Plena and will eventually get the 35mm/1.2. 35mm to 135mm is a big gap, and how bad do I want to fill that gap with this lens? I don’t shoot portrait much, mainly nature scenes and wildlife, so I’m not sure I can justify the GAS on it. But wow, y’all are showing lovely creative use for it.

I'm still not loving the photographer/camera interface on the 100S. So many things annoy me about it coming from much more well thought out Nikon bodies and UIs. The question is, can the 35/1.2 get close enough to the 55/1.7 and can the 85/1.2 get close enough to the 110.
I intend to find out this summer when there's more to shoot and actual color in the sky
I too shoot both systems. The GFX is my go-to when I want the best image quality, which is most of the time. Especially for portraiture. I reach for my Nikon when I'm photographing sports.
Well if the interface annoys you compared to other systems, shoot Nikon !
IMO the Fuji interface is fine. I use my gfx a lot more (except when I need fast AF I reach for my Nikon). The gfx image quality makes up for its relative slowness. Its fast enough for my use cases and I went into MF with the right expectations. In return I get absolutely amazing image quality that my Nikon system simply cannot match regardless of lens.

I actually prefer the interface of the GFX over my Nikon Z9. I get much more enjoyment out of shooting the GFX than I do shooting my Nikons.
Blasphemous, perhaps, to post something not taken at f/1.2 here, but the lens certainly doesn’t get worse at f/2.8. The falloff and transitions remain just as fabulous.
Z8, 85/1.2, ISO 80, f/2.8, 1/125, custom in-camera color profile

In my initial testing of the 85/1.2 to the GF 110, this isn't really true. Z has extra bokeh, is razor sharp, is reliably finding the iris and not the eyelashes like other Z lenses, and is way snappier for focusing. IQ short of pure resolution wide open is negligibly different. Z8/Z9 shutters allow for wide open application in all bright lighting scenarios. I'm not a flash shooter, but understand that the GF leaf shutter/sync speed would be great for them.
GFX shines in plenty of other places but this lens shootout doesn't appear to be one of them.
There is no leaf shutter in the GFX cameras. HSS is also a bit of a tricky experience at least to me due to sensor travel time. I don't think I can get 1/1000th out of it without having a synching issue. I recently started using the iso 50 in the 100S and it helps a bit with that. You can still stop down to 2.5 for example and still get excellent bokeh. RoamingScott wrote:

haha late night post brain fart, been thinking about the RF too much.
Yeah figures. For what I do I wouldn't mind a leaf shutter, but at the same time I don't want to pay Hasselblad prices RoamingScott wrote:

Played with Z9 3D Tracking specifically for keeping track of the batter among the ump and catcher...worked much better in this context than for birding, for example. Insane to me that these are shot through a chain link fence, this lens is bonkers.

Well, two years have passed. Have you had your crystal ball repaired in the meantime?
I've started work on a head-to-head comparison between the 85/1.2 and GF110.
Wow is all I can say. The Nikon rendering is easily besting the Fuji by every metric outside of pure sharpness, and the Fuji is one of my favorite lenses.
