I got this lens alongside a Z8 just 4 months ago, but due to sickness I didn't get much time with it on field. I still managed to get some amazing shots at a wedding and of family. While I can't share those, here are some test shots of my dog and an attempt for street:
While I had 85mm f/1.4 lenses before, I am still blown away how this lens obliterates its background.
One question though: how good is the sealing on your copies? I noticed quite a few dust particles inside mine, even if I have been storing it inside a camera cube that is inside a bag which in turn is inside a closed cabinet. I live in a fairly dusty and somewhat humid (50-60% at worst) place, which is why I try to use silicone gels.
Received my 85/1.2 today, how is everyone getting on with the AF? Trying to recreate a photo ( under crappy LED lights so not really a good photo TBH ) I took with an R5 and RF85 about 2 years ago when I loaned one and I have to say the Z9 seemed to struggle. Maybe I need to play more with AF settings but only 30% or so were actually in focus.
When it hits it's lovely and sharp though. Need to use it some more but slightly underwhelmed so far.
Spend time learning the Z9 focus options and your hit rate will go way up. Steve Perry (Backcountry Gallery) and Henry Hudson both have YouTube videos on the Z8/Z9 autofocus settings. That’s a good place to start.
I really love this lens. It is amazingly sharp even at f/1.2 and the background falls away so smoothly at wider apertures. I abuse the f/1.2 privilege whenever possible. 😄
One of the best image threads in FM. I just ran through it stem to stern. I have the Plena and will eventually get the 35mm/1.2. 35mm to 135mm is a big gap, and how bad do I want to fill that gap with this lens? I don’t shoot portrait much, mainly nature scenes and wildlife, so I’m not sure I can justify the GAS on it. But wow, y’all are showing lovely creative use for it.
I've been on the fence on trading my GF 110 for the Z 85/1.2. It's impossible to tell via the size of uploads here if it's bang on for eye focus, and the 100S + GF 110 is fantastic at it.
I need to rent one and put it through its paces for sure!
Funny enough I think the 85 1.2 is bigger. I like both, but I oddly just prefer using the 100S and 110 for my headshot work...which is my actual work. The 85 1.2 is usually my event lens...because GFX is not for event work to me. RoamingScott wrote:

I have not touched 110/2 in quite awhile ever since I got both 135/1.8 Plena and 85/1.2s.
Mind you I only have GFX100 which AF is still a bit of a pain and I don't like its form factor very much.
Ever since somebody pointed out to me that 110/2 does have quite a harsh transition zone especially for full body
portrait on Fuji forum, I can't help myself seeing that regularly
However, 55/1.7 is a different story and I like it quite a bit more than 50/1.2s although focal length is not exactly the same.
I am curious to see how 35/1.2S will stack up against 55/1.7 as 55/1.7 is kind of in a middle between 35 and 50.
I do street photography with the 100S and 110F2 at times. The AF isn't that bad. I might actually use the 110F2 more than the 85 1.2 I don't think I've done a lot of full body shots with the 110, it's a half body and up lens to me, but I'm flexible and I usually don't micro analyze my stuff that much. suteetat wrote:

True. Honestly I was never bother by that particular finding in the past until he posted a sample picture hilighting it then I went back and looked at my pictures and suddenly it stood out like a sore thumb
May be that's why I don't look at Fuji forum much anymore
Now contemplating if I should go for 80/1.7 which I heard performs just as well as 55/1.7 or sell my 100 and go for 100s ii. I used to have 5 batteries (Fuji brand) but now down to two 2nd to swollen batteries. I hope the new batteries will be better.
I have the 80 1.7 and love it. It's actually one of the most versatile lenses, the AF is just slow. My only real issue with it was dealing with the 1.7 using flash photography outdoors and dealing with HSS issues. suteetat wrote:
