@JadedWriter Here is a sample of 85/1.2S at the same location that I shot with 135/1.8 the other day.
When it comes to bokeh ball, I don't think anything will beat Plena at the moment. However, 85/1.2S is still very good in its own right but Nikon really outdid itself with Plena in term of bokeh ball at least.

I've had the 85mm 1.2 since it came out. In fact, it was the lens that enticed me to move back to Nikon from Sony. I've been lucky enough to test out most of the Nikon and Sony lenses. After using it extensively in that time, without a doubt at this point, the 85mm 1.2s is the best lens I've ever used for any platform. In practical use, at 1.2 it is as sharp as any lens. The rendering is really smooth through the defocused areas. The ability to make images pop is unrivaled. The Noct .95 is maybe a bit better in this regard, but not by much, but that lens lacks AF and it much heavier and impractical for most shooting situations. With denoise tech available today, the 1.2 is a true rival for it in light gathering, and even without denoise, you are going to get sharper images in most situations because of the AF. The AF is fast and reliable even on fast subjects. I spent 3 days last weekend shooting a long event and basically brought the whole arsenal with me. The one lens I kept putting back on the camera and ended up using about 75% of the time was the 85.
I am looking forward to add a Z8 for high MP landscape and portrait but so far so good with the Z6II and the 85/1.2, I should travel a little more and be less shy when holding my camera...
I still love this lens. I still want the Plena, but at the same time for a lot of what I do 85mm is the perfect focal length. Also yeah she's lovely. ndwgolf1 wrote:
