what an amazing set of photographs. the bear cubs were definitely the scene stealers. all in all, a very uplifting series of photos. thanks for sharing.

vbnut - First of all thank you for taking the time to view and comment I truly appreciate it. The bird is Male Ruffed Grouse. It's standing on what is called a drumming log and he is drumming. He will typically beat his wings 45-48 times within 5 to 8 seconds of drumming. It's a really cool thumping sound to hear in the woods. Do a Google search for Ruffed Grouse drumming and there are multiple videos you can watch and listen to if you are interested. Here are a couple more images in the drumming sequence.
Incredible set. Too many wonderful shots to pick favorites, but that last one is unique and funny! Thanks for sharing. I'll be passing this on to non-photographer, but animal loving friends.
