Thanks to my work, I have been lucky enough to be able to go to Iceland at least twice a year since 2017, either running Workshops or for my personal work; I have also been lucky to go in winter, when the conditions you'll find are always extremely different.
Every time I go, I try and stop by Kirkjufells, if I can; while one of the most photographed places in Iceland, the iconic shape of the mountain and the beautiful waterfalls strongly appeal to me, and I always love to try and find new ways to portray them. Can't wait to be back in February!
Below you'll find 5 different images of Kirkjufells and Kirkjufellsfoss, taken on 5 different visits and with different conditions:
Enjoy, and thanks for viewing & commenting! Best regards,
Love the area - one of my favorite compositions is to take a wide angle and walk up the hill behind Kirkjufellsfoss, along the fence line. There's a little game path that will take you to a small bubbling stream that eventually feeds down to the falls, and can make for a nice leading composition to Kirkjufell if conditions are right!

Yes, I know that path, but somehow - even though they are so photographed! - I find myself always attracted by the majestic falls under it

I love the 2nd one. Your long shutter making the water falls totally silky and devoid of texture does not work for me...but that's just me.
Hey Chez, thanks for your comment and not a problem of course! The treatment of water in landscape photography is so personal, no right or wrong here

Thank you very much, that's really appreciated! I understand that it's something you don't really see often, but to me it just made sense

Very nice work, Vieri, especially the 1st and 4th images. It must be amazing to see this area in person and the aurora is extra special!
Best regards, David
Thank you very much, David, so glad you enjoyed them! Yes, its an amazing place to visit and photograph, and the aurora is just something else!
Having seen (and processed for others) maybe a half gazillion images from here over the years, I might be a little skewed. BUT, having said that, you have some really special shots here! Since I generally like originality and unique takes on things, I am diggin' 2, 3 and 4 the most. Wow! Print them huge for all to see!!

Hey Mark, great to see you, my friend! Thank you for your kind comment, that is truly much appreciated. Yes, I have seen and processed a billion of images from Kirkjufells as well, during my Workshops, but that place is still magical for me and I am always happy to photograph it again - your comments truly means a lot!
