Does anyone know the actual name of this part and whether replacements are available?
It sits right on the palm of the grip and as a result, is the first part of the rubber that expands with use and no longer fits in its socket. I eventually removed it as it made the camera uncomfortable to hold, and also just infuriating to deal with.
I know I'm not the only one with this issue. Has anyone else found a solution or a good replacement?

i have used my camera pretty consistently since Dec 2021. no expansion. the fit is snug and truthfully i have only opened it 3 times as i have not made use of the lock at all. as was said above give Nikon a call out on long island.

That is the Kensington lock door. I had the same issue and just lived with it until I was having rubber issues across the whole body. They'll replace it when you send it in.
