Sandhill Cranes return to Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area in Indiana, there were about 3500 the day I was there. Last year there were 28,652 on Nov. 23, 2021 counted by IDNR, so many more to come. Sony A1 w/ 600 GM plus 1.4x
You certainly captured wonderful sandhill crane images, Michael! The background is for sure greener than that at Bosque. That’s quite a decrease in number of sandies this year but it is still early in the season, huh?
Thanks Dave, this group comes through Indiana every year and is part of the Florida migration, while the lager western group heads to northern Mexico. I believe that's the flock that passes through Kearney Nebraska.
Lovely pictures of the sandhill cranes! I have been trying to shoot them for quite some time now, but not happened yet. This location seems to be good.
From I-80 Exit State Route 421 South about 33 miles or 45min drive. They'll be there at the viewing area or start looking in the harvested fields you'll see them flying everywhere
