I just (stupidly?) purchased an original Steel Rim. Should be here next week. I'm tempted to find a decently priced reissue to do a comparison (for fun).

Awesome, thanks! I'll message you when the original arrives. I can do a comparison with the lux v2, Steel Rim original and Steel Rim reissue.

Beautiful photos Fred and nice Original SR Shawn! Nice M10-D
My new hood arrived. I thought it would come from NJ but it shipped from Wetzlar in a very timely fashion. It is as described. All is right in the world! Thank you Leica and to everyone in this forum who brought the issue to light.

Received safely, thank you for loaning it to me! It’s well centered and calibrated to the RF.
My SR is currently completed disassembled for a CLA. Youxin doesn’t think it’s ever been opened or cleaned before despite the glass being quite clear. He worked on it most of the day yesterday and is only half done. Said he’s being very detailed and careful which I’m happy to hear. He has an original steel rim also. Pretty excited to get it back in a few days and play around with all three lenses.

Dear friends,
I just bought, here in Italy, the steel rim reissue; it was produced on July 18, 2023 and the included round lens hood is the new one.
I took some shots but I see that from f1.4 up to f4 the photos still have vignetting.
I noticed that the aperture ring has a play of about half a millimeter in the positions of the aperture values.
In the meantime, the diaphragm is in any case rigid, fixed at the set value. Is this slack normal? I am attaching a link to a short video:
