I still don't get how it is cheaper AND limited edition. Or perhaps it is cheaper because it is aimed purely at the collector market: it has no shutter which it doesn't need anyway if it is going to be kept in a glass case.
Maybe Leica has found a way to really monetize the collector market, by making super expensive M-like souvenirs.

Long live leica. Very sad to see this BS release along with their embargo on parts to non-leica repair centers. The apple-fication of leica is finally complete.

I was not aware of this. Any links you can share?
the link i have got nuked by leica incorporated. they are trying hard to bury this. currently dag and youxin are the only techs i know of that can get parts for leica approved repairs, in fact i believe leica does outsource some repairs to them. this is a relatively new development that will come out sooner or later.

That would be disappointing and rather unsettling as far as I am concerned.
I recently had the windshield of my car replaced by a local automotive shop. Imagine them no longer being able to source any parts from Ford... unimaginable...

Leica should get their ass kicked for this!
I hope they reverse the situation before it blows up in their faces. I bought a vintage M serviced by leica from europe and it was an absolute basket case when it arrived. cost me a lot of money at dag to fix their poor work.

I'll say this again if Leica making special editions helps their bottom line so they can make cameras like the M 10 Mono or even keep making film cameras then rock on Leica. BTW have you sent your Canon F-1 into Canon for service. How did that work out? Leica still making film cameras is a good thing period. And everything you read on the internet is true ha ha ha ....
I always say if they make something you don't like, simple, don't buy it.

I think the issue here is us Leica film shooters got all excited that it would be a new film product, not the 23rd limited edition version of the M6. Leica even teased a story about the CM on their feed.
Of course anything that brings money into the business is good. It’s just many of us was hoping it would be a new product.

Huss, I think we will know for sure in about a week, right? But I can't see them putting a body that would compete with their M-P or M-A though.
Yes, apparently the 20th. A commemorative run of 500 would be no competition. Hope I'm wrong, but this seems like a lot of brouhaha over nothing.

That’s why it is going to be a limited edition M6. Would not compete as only 500. Super easy to make as it’s basically an M-P.
But I was hoping for a new CM, or even reintroduced CM! That p&s would not compete against an M.

I still think they will introduce several new film cameras in the next year or two – they have all that production capacity from the discontinued APS-C line just sitting there doing nothing.
