My Wife was offered a black M11 today in the Leica Store Copenhagen for just $7300. Way less expensive than here. She wanted to buy it for me, but I passed. Still loving my M10-P and I am concerned about shooting 60 mpx without IBIS.
Yeah those in the know buy new from overseas. My jam are the film Leicas, and a new MP is $4200 if you buy it from England! That is way less than what people are asking for used ones on the b&s board. Plus Leica’s warranty is world wide so no issues with that.
Also they are in stock, while here you wait months for one.
The current one already has a built-in hood, so if Leica is also keeping the same optical design, the only difference may be a change to 11-aperture blades and shorter MFD.
I think Leica heard me say that now the 35 has been ordered it is the last lens I needed for my lens kit. There are other lenses I want but wanting is not needing.
To consider upgrading my Lux 50 makes me understand the angst the 35 Lux owners had. My Lux 50 is my favourite lens and I do not know if the shorter MFD and 11 blades would give me the same satisfaction as my current Lux 50.
Defeinetly a trend is occurring since the 35APO by having a shorter MFD.

I had only heard the 50 Lux rumor, so I was surprised to see the 35 Lux updated first. The 50 Lux with shorter MFD be a big deal (to me anyway) since I don't think there are any current production CV or ZM 50mm M lenses that can focus below 0.7m.

The CV 50/1.5 Heliar focuses @ 0.5m!
It looks like rangefinder technology is close to perfection so Leica is focusing on 'liveview' features for their new M bodies and also improving their lenses for liveview shooting.

Aaahhh, 0.5m MFD, AND it has a built-in full-strength Black Pro Mist filter! I totally missed the MFD in the review thread – perhaps I was mesmerized by the crazy bokeh.
Wouldn't it be cool if they are working on a better rangefinder that somehow can adjust for parallax at these close distances? Maybe it's physically impossible, IDK.
Regarding the use of a 35mm lens at distances closer than 0.7m, I remembered an article, with images, posted by Jonathan Slack, showing the same scene, shot at the MFD of the several APO M lenses, that included images shot at both 0.7m and 0.3m with the then-newly-announced APO Summicron-M 35mm ASPH. One thing I recalled is that the APO Summicron-M 75mm ASPH has quite good magnification, such that a shot at 0.7m will magnify a subject almost as much as will the APO Summicron-M 35mm ASPH at 0.3m.
I had already been on the look-out for a decent, pre-owned APO Summicron-M 75mm ASPH, anyway, so, this article, and images, helped me to decide against pursuing the new APO Summicron-M 35mm ASPH. Early 2022 became a time to buy a beautifully well-preserved, pre-owned APO 75mm ‘Cron, and also acquire a most wonderful Elmar-M 24mm ASPH, rather than get onto a waiting list for a closer-focusing 35mm f/2 lens.
So, it is not that I will never buy a close-focusing 35mm M lens, but simply that there is no rush. A closer-focusing 50mm lens would, certainly, be another factor that would affect a perceived need for a closer-focusing 35mm lens

There is a 'slight perceptible resistance' at 0.7m. According to the press release
That's very useful when focusing with the rangefinder at MFD. With Voigtlander lenses capable of focusing closer than 0.7m, I hear a slightly "click" when focusing closer than the rangefinder range.

Oh for sure. There was one VM lens I had for a bit that offered no feedback when dropping below 0.7m, was pretty annoying... 35/1.2 maybe??

For real? I never heard a click when passing 0.7m on CV lenses:
I just tested the cv 28/2 II and can feel and hear a click. It’s very subtle but it’s there. When I feel it, it’s an indication that the lens focus moved beyond the RF coupling. Of course it only works with lenses that focus closer than 0.7m.

Just checked the cv 21/1.4 and it works the same way. Pay attention when focusing a bit closer than 0.6m. It’s a subtle click. That’s when the RF quits.

I usually turn until the resistance of focus ring suddenly lesson and turn backward to "feel" when the lens get in contact with rangefinder arm.

+1. Also my first thought when reading the specs. I don't like the pull-out hood in my 50/2 Vers. V Summicron either. Too flimsy and often doesn't sit straight when pulled out and the camera/lens is moved.
When I had the pre adph 1.4 50 Summilux the slide out hood was useless, barely came beyond the UV filter. Used a third party 'traditional' vented one
I got mine (black) by luck in Copenhagen last week while visiting. At the time they had 2 silver in stock and I believe they had 1-2 more black come in last week.

Ah, so you’re hearing the camera/lens interaction, not a click feature of the lens. I guess I must have listened to too much loud music in my youth to hear it
With lenses that focus closer than 0.7 and I want to shoot at MFD with the rangefinder: I move the lens from sub-0.7 toward 0.7 until I see the patch move, then I move myself/the camera to focus.

Somehow I can hear it all the time when I want to focus at 0.7m but like I wrote, it's subtle. I wish Cosina introduces more resistance for the RF MFD point with newer lenses.
