Not to the slightest, no. Either it works in the corners or it doesn't.
At least for the ~15 lenses I tried so far.
That’s also my experience on the half dozen I’ve tried.
If tthere is a pattern at all so far (and so far I’m working my way through my old collection of Nakagawa designed OM Zuiko SLR lenses) it’s that it works better on the faster lenses than the more compact slower ones, even of the same focal length.

I'm still waiting for my adapter (ordered on the 10th). A question: Those lenses that work or don't work in the corners, is there any difference between focusing them on "dead" objects or on people with the Face Detect/Eye-AF? If I remember correctly, the Face Detect/Eye-AF uses the CDAF more, than the PDAF, that is why I ask. Thanks!
I always had the impression that Eye AF was mostly PDAF but could be wrong. It did work in CDAF for the original A7R but it was not good.

To avoid misses, I mostly focus at center and recompose with the LM-EA9, except with Eye-AF where surprisingly I get great results with my M lenses.
I did some tests (as well as was practical) and this adapter with a 35/1.4 lux on the Sony a1 consistently focused faster than I could with the m11. So impressed how well they've engineered this widget.

I've always been wondering about something and hope someone can explain it to me:
It's the camera that's doing the AF part and then sending data to the lens/adapter to shift the focus. So how can it be some lenses, or in this case adapter, perform better or worse? Why does one lens/adapter work better with eye AF than another? It's the camera that "sees" the image and decides if it's in or out of focus. So why will it only work with PDAF and not with CDAF? Why does one AF setting (like "Wide") work better than the other? In the end it's the same image that's being "seen" by the sensor...
^^^^Wow Steve, coming up on your 20 year membership here at FM...cool!
Hopefully B&H gets these in stock soon. I've been using my EA7 a lot lately. It actually still works really good after 2-3 years of use (although, I don't use it much). I'm always worried I'll get the wobble. Sounds like it's a very robust upgrade. I switched back to Sony for my AF needs and with these adapters I don't need to buy any Sony primes (well, maybe 1 or 2 ). Saves me a ton of $.
One thing I have noticed is that on my old A7RII, I can't move the focus box outside of the PDAF area which is only in the middler part of the image. So the TechArt seems not to use CDAF at all.
Another thing I noticed is that on my A7RII I can't get it do work with Eye-AF, it says that the lens is not compatible (meaning the adapter). It does work with Face Detect though.
On my more modern bodys Eye-AF works fine and I can also position the focus box anywhere in the image (how well it works outside of the middle is another lens dependent topic though).

You need to assign a button to AF/MF ctrl toggle for that.
I just noticed that on an A9 (and most likely A9II + A1) one can also use the knob on the body and set it over to MF, but that takes more time, so a custom button is better.

Do we have a definitive US shipping date? B+H says October, I am itching for mine…
Have an order in with B&H and Techart.. neither has moved, sadly.
Waiting for this to come in to decide if I pick up an A7 IV or A7C for a family / sports camera that will double as a platform for fun (adapting my M and CY collection).. really would like to get into that testing..!
Is there any way to reprogram (via camera body or PC) the IBIS setting vs the aperture values? I only have MF lenses between 24 and 300 mm so don't need 15 or 800 mm for instance but 55 and 100 mm for instance are as it is now lacking in the factory installed range so I would rather have those than focal lengths I will never use.
