I received mine and tested with two c-v A 15mm in ltm and a 35 in LM, Unfortunately no real issues but no great pictures. Given another good day I will take out a leica Hector tele.
Hi all, I'm currently having issue updating the firmware of Techart EA9, error message says "Device not connected", running Windows 10. Anyone with similar issues or any solutions? thanks in advance!
To add, my current firmware is 1.0.5 which came with the adapter and I can't get the parking to stay at current position after toggling to manual focus, it always moves back to infinity.

I had the same problem at first (also Win 10), but it was solved by using a different USB cable to connect.
Mine worked, the other thing is the USB socket is in the rear cap, I guess it must be clicked home. Just hate the pull out, to release the cap, it is not a nice setup.

Not to the slightest, no. Either it works in the corners or it doesn't.
At least for the ~15 lenses I tried so far.
I'd be curious to see the list of lenses that works well into the corners. I see your review says the Mr. Ding 50/1.1 and Leica 90/2 were the only ones that did. Any others?
On my A7IV, I've tested two 40mm lenses, the Leica Summicron-C 40/2 and the Voigtlander 40/1.2 VM (just received today). Both seem to have the same area where Eye-AF tracking works on the LM-EA9. It seems to be approximately a square area in the middle of the frame (that is, if you use the 1:1 aspect ratio setting, it would cover most of the area). If I use the APS-C setting in camera with these lenses, Eye-AF extends almost to the very corners.
A bit disappointing that my favorite Voigtlander lens works like this. I'd like to know if the CV50 is similar. I saw Fred's earlier tests with this lens, but that was on an APS-C camera.

No, that's it for now.
I got word situation is a bit better on the A7rV though.

I tested my Leica 90/4 Elmar-C and AF tracking and Eye-AF works into the corners on that lens. I don't know if that lines up with your thoughts about Lateral CA making a difference.
Here are a few using animal eye-AF with Sony A7IV and the Voigtlander 40/1.2 VM:
I would love to buy one of these, but I'm worried with that 1 year warranty.
I've read a lot of complains about previous version failing etc.
Do you guys think this new version should last long?
Another question - when watched yt reviews noticed that when the adapter moves lens forward, it show a small gap between lens and its top frame - is that correct? Would that be a possible dust issue?

Lenses with floating elements are not ideal to use with the LM-EA9 adapter because the latter works best with wide and normal lenses set to infinity distance. So, for example, when focusing the Leica 35/1.4 FLE on a subject at 2m distance, the lens should be set to infinity and the adapter focuses great. However, because of FLE, this lens performs better if the focus ring is set to 2m instead of infinity. It's not a big issue but something to keep in mind.
Thank you for doing this review. I’m interested in trying this for my M glass and Sony body. Specifically the 35 FLE, 50 lux and 90 AA.
Is using a lens with a floating element with the LM-EA9 basically a matter of setting a different distance on the lens than infinity (2m in the case of the 35 FLE)?

Yes, that's what I do. If focusing close with the FLE, I just move the focusing ring to a closer distance to improve IQ.

Yes, there is a small gap. This doesn’t seem like a great choice if weather sealing is at all a consideration.
I’m not sure about the longevity of the build. I would mostly be concerned about how far into the future the adapter will receive updates to work with new cameras which will essentially limit its lifespan.
It’s quite expensive but I’m enjoying it with my CV40.
Received the adapter yesterday and what a neat device! Worked on my A7RV (including AI AF) with a 21 SEM, 28 CV, 35 (set to 2m as suggested) and 50 lux and 90 Apo. Worked great. Much slower of course than say a GM lens, but faster than I was expecting. AF really didn’t work for me outside of the center 1/3 of the image - the only exception is the 90 APO - it focused all the way to the edges of the frame.
I did notice that while AF was quite quick, the actual shutter release was slow with priority set to AF in AF-C mode (~1 second).. If I change priority set to Balanced in AF-C mode it’s quicker, but still a slight delay. Changing focus mode to AF-S resolves this delay. This is with a A7RV, I have a A7C coming today to compare it with.
Here is a sequence from this morning. It's my oldest birthday today. :-)
The first two were taken with the Voigtlander 50/1.5 Heliar. Depending on lighting, it hunts when outside the center. The rest of them is with the Leica 75/1.4 Lux which rarely hunts and locks focus even outside the center.
All with Eye-AF and minimal post. (Adobe Color profile)
So, 100% keepers with the Summilux and about 70% keeper with the Voigt. The former is also much sharper at this distance.

Your daughters are beautiful. Do you recall around what aperture these were taken? I've noticed if the lens is stopped down some the AF is quicker.
