This young GGO chick fledged a mere 24 hours before the following images were taken. The drop from the nest some 12-15 meters above ground must have been scary. The youngster attempted to climb trees to get up high. However, it was not yet strong enough. It's sibling unfortunately didn't make it through the first night.
Here is the little fluff ball on the ground:
The owl tried several trees. Here it is resting near some flowers:
It then decided this was the one to try:

Ugh, it's tough when you haven't developed the right muscles yet:
It was just too early and the little owl returned to the ground. The rain didn't help matters much.
Was amazing to watch the trials and tribulations of this little owl. Mom sat in a nearby tree waiting for dad to bring food. Did see one food exchange but it was within the branches of a fallen tree.

Terrific photos of an owl in some trouble. I hope predators are kept away until the fledgling can actually fly. That last shot is heart breaking.
