Small flower (less than 2 cm) with angel hair. Maybe a member of the gourd family? My Chinese neighbors have these in their garden and maybe someday will tell me what it is! The RF 18-150 3.5-6.3 IS STM focuses surprisingly close.
Thanks for sharing. It looks to me like the R7 has focused on the stems and leaves in front of the bird - something some R7 reviews have commented on. Are other R7 users having trouble with the af grabbing fore or background rather than intended subject?
I think the focus is on the eye and the stems/branches and some of the leaves happen to be in the focus zone.

bobbytan's answer to you is correct, it is in the debth of field of the shot. Attached is a screen shot of focus point camera used on this shot FYI. To really see the head/eye is in focus, go to the Flickr link of original shot and download the full resolution file. You can see the head is sharp and the stick a little in front of head is not.
Tony, it appears you are getting some fabulous opportunities to put the R7 through its paces. Any overall observations and how easily is it to track BIF? For some reason, I struggle with the 100-500 on FF (my R5) much more than I do with my "big whites" and the lens tends not to search against featureless skies unlike my EF 500 or 600. Does it behave the same way on the R7?
Here are a couple with a "4K" crop. That is, the small edge is set to coincide with the smaller (vertical) 4K UHD dimension, or in other words, 3024 x 2160. This is my sort of "smallest I would like to go" crop as well as my preferred output size these days since I do use a 4K OLED display as my primary "showcase" display at home.

Can you share the name of the plugin you are using? That looks like a useful plugin that tells you the focus point as well as several pieces of information about the camera settings.

Sure. It is at https://lightroomfocuspointsplugin.com/
Will only work in Library Mode, and only on RAW type files on mostly Canon and Nikon camera per their FAQ.
In the past , it has been somewhat erratic. Right now it is working fine on the current version of Lightroom.
This Short-billed Dowitcher photo was shot with the R7, RF600 f4, 2X TC, and is just over 6 megapixels after cropping. I did run it through Topaz DeNoise. Quite pleased with the image quality here. The image itself is nothing to write home about, but the fine feather detail from the distance I was at was quite pleasing to me.
1/1000, f/10, ISO800.

I totally agree! The high pixel density, and consequent reach, are what attracted me to the R7. Not quite as impressive as your shots with the 2XTC, but a much more aggressive 1.7MP crop from a bare EF 600mm f/4 II.
The Dowitcher looks really good considering the focal length. The Heron from the latest message, however, is clearly backfocused and may suggest inconsistency from the R7 AF.

Could be AF inconsistency, or user error . Also, to be fair to the R7, this is what I was cropping from.
