Once again I returned to the outer coast of BC to photograph coastal wolves. They are my favourite subject. My first trip was two years ago and this most recent one was my third. Trip number two yielded no images so I had all fingers and toes crossed. It seemed to pay off. Coastal wolves are quite incredible. The vast majority of their diet is derived from the ocean. They are leaner than their inland cousins but certainly no less amazing and mesmerizing. Even though we spent a lot of time in photo blinds, the wolves were very well aware of our presence. In fact, on numerous occasions they came close to check us out even when outside the blinds. You'll see a couple of very close up images below. It's important to note that in EVERY instance, the wolf decided to approach us (and not the other way around). All images shot at 600mm. Ok, enough jibber jabber. Hope you'll like one or two.
Hello Henrik good to see from you again sir. Wow, kind of gives me goose bumps buddy. These are special, wild and in nature and your images depict both very nicely. Love the whole image and darn if that/those wolves don't look like my dog!!
Awesome images for sure

What a beautiful set Henrik. They are all great, every shot but #5 it has eyes on you. Love the cautious intimacy between you and the wolf in 4 & 6.
Dave
Hey Dave. Thank you kindly. Re 4 and 6 - wolf came from quite a distance away to check us out. I never felt threatened in any way. Amazing experience.

Hi Karl! Thanks my friend. You must have a beautiful dog. These wolves do look like German shepherds. Interestingly, the wolves are a bit smaller than their inland cousins.
