It's a high quality UV filter that allows the Leica 50/1.4 Summilux Black Chrome original hood to be attached without any problems. It's also super thin at ~1mm thickness!

Yes, I did and it was pretty straightforward. I got the filter in about 10 days. I ordered some in 39mm and 46mm as well just because I like the low profile.
