Probably should have used something shorter but I love the rendering from this lens in soft light. Some closeups and some in-flight images, all uncropped, of Australasian Gannets - nest building season!
Wow... you get really close to Gannets!... I Love the smooth texture of their plumage and the soft colors on their head.
I wish I had access to a colony like this near me

It was a good day...
About two hours after photographing the previously posted red-tailed hawk, I followed up on a good friend's tip who said he saw an owl near his home. I had seen a pair of owls in the neighborhood two days before, so I ventured out in the mist of a late afternoon and managed to squeeze off a few shots before it left me with its silent flight... 2 birds of prey in distinctly beautiful fall foliage in one day...

Thanks George ..
It all began with the eagles that weren't. I'm still a bit miffed about the eagle shot I missed, as I think that would have been the best of the day. It was more of an animal landscape, but a beautiful mature baldy on a lonely branch surround by yellow maple leaves... when I close my eyes, I can still see how I would have processed that picture...

Rainbow Bee eater at 1120mm. I couldn't get closer as there was a "No Trespassing" sign so, I had to add a TC! This is a heavy crop as well.
This came out awesome in spite of the distance and crop!
