Update: I bought the Kirk foot and it fits perfectly fine with the hood reversed and the soft sleeve on the hood. The guy who posted on B&H otherwise was FOS. It’s not even close enough to make an honest mistake. My pinky finger fits into the gap.

Just got my copy!!!!!
Anyone here using the Kirk LP-72 replacement foot with this lens? A review on B&H says it hits the lens hood when the hood is reversed. A YT video says otherwise, but did not show it.

The earlier models were a little longer and did not work. They have since fixed the problem and now have the new shorter ones that are compatible. There was an issue with the early ones sold to B & H though.

Makes sense. BH needs to remove (or annotate) that review as it is now outdated and misleading.

Anyone have any info on what order dates were being filled on the last release of the 800mm PF?
Question answered itself. I just got my NPS shipping notification. For anyone interested my NPS priority request was placed in July for an order that I'd had in earlier with my LCS. So for NPS orders they must be about caught up because mid July is when they suspended accepting new orders. I've got a feeling a lot of NPS requests for the 800 got cancelled in favor of the 600mm TC.

Just received my 800mm.... fast focus, locks on even at great distances. First few shots, who says you can't use a super-tele for sunset/seascapes! BTW, the Piper aircraft was in bright sunlight with the 2x converter!

Stork-Billed kingfisher. Tracking using programmable area C1 to make a large square box in the middle with animal detection is pretty good with Z9 and 800PF.
all cropped a bit.
The last shot is a bit off as the bird left the focus area quite a few shots before already.
I think the biggest problem was that was unable to keep the bird in the center of the frame
rather than the camera's AF deficiency.

I just received my 800 pf lens (Today). It is very light and well balanced with my Z9. I don't like the button placements (Considering that I will mainly handhold this 990% of time). I need to get used to this lens.

Most things new and a little different take time for us to get used to them. Hang in there and use it as much as you can and it will all work out!! Congratulations on an awesome lens!

Had the lens for over a week and finally got out with it. Local duck pond is about the only predictable place for activity this time of year. Not the best conditions for shooting BIF but managed a frame or two.
