The 200-600mm lens was ordered two years ago when it was released and is rarely used. Just bought a 1.4x last week, want to test the effect, and found that the 200-600mm lens can not autofocus.
It shows F---, as shown below. Tested several other Sony lenses, no problem!
Has anyone encountered similar problems?

I had this happen to me with a lens that I bought used that got damaged in shipping. It turns out that the aperture blades got misaligned and stuck that led to this mode - must be some sort of error mode.
I would suggest you look into the barrel and see if there are any odd misalignment issues. I ended up having to get the lens repaired (luckily the seller and I came up with some sort of amicable agreement). Maybe your lens sustained a drop somewhere along the way?

Did you try cleaning the gold contacts on the lens? Usually that can be an issue I've seen with a lens if mine. Just grab a qtip and wipe away at it l, that might be the fix you need.

Thank you very much for your reply. This lens was bought more than 2 years, only taken out 2 times, the rest of the time in the moisture-proof box sleep. As far as I can remember, it has never been dropped, there has been no violent vibration.

This, but a fresh pencil eraser works best, if you've got one of those curiosities of the dark ages hanging around.

Is the connection "F---" issue happening with only the bare lens attached to the camera? Or is this with the TC mounted? Did you clean all contacts including camera? Long shot I know if other lenses work OK. You might check if the lens mount screws are loose. JIS 3.0mm driver should be the correct tool size.
